Welcome to our Mushroom Workshops!

Shiitake Inoculation

Learn to grow shiitake mushrooms on natural substrates using a variety of tools and techniques!

We inoculate hundreds of shiitake logs every winter, and our systems and practices can inform your own mushroom grow, whether you are curious/ beginning or already growing!
Beginners can experiment with a simple drill-and-hammer cold system that would be suitable for a small mushroom garden, and more advanced growers can try out palm and thumb inoculators, as well as the Japanese-style “stick” and “hand” tools with cold and hot wax and/or styrofoam sealers, potentially saving hundreds of dollars on equipment purchases (try before you buy!)

Everyone who joins us will take home an inoculated log and receive a link to care and harvest instructions.

Oyster Cultivation

Our Oyster Mushroom Cultivation workshop empowers students to create a clone from a store-bought or foraged mushroom specimen, then walks participants through the steps to take that clone all the way to a fruiting substrate, from which they can create a new clone and start all over!

Everyone who joins us will take home a block of inoculated substrate and receive a link to care and cultivation instructions.
